2022.01.27 05:14 FarrierZA ACCA vs CIMA with an interest in tax.

I am currently at a crossroads as to what to do next in my life.
I have an option of pursuing ACCA or CIMA but I am unsure as to what will be recognized globally. Granted, they are both known worldwide. I have exemptions for both courses but ACCA is a bit pricier in accepting credits. I've spoken with an accountant from my country who went to the US and he stated that CIMA is the way to go as it's automatically recognized there for CPA status and advised me to follow that path. I even spoke to a book vendor who told me that CIMA is extremely popular with their textbooks flying off the shelves compared to ACCA.
I am stuck now as I was intending to specialize in international taxation and do an ADIT and register with the CIOT as ACCA covers taxation but I'm not sure now as CIMA seems to be cheaper as well as easier to use overseas. I'm not sure if CIMA covers tax much or if they're recognized by the CIOT. CIMA is also well known in my country by companies and has made agreements with two major bodies, whereas ACCA is recognized by the government but unknown by professionals and clients due to poor marketing. My ultimate goal is to eventually work in international tax in different countries but I need to plan this next move right else it will be costly in terms of time and money as I'm already 26.
Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

2022.01.27 05:14 Dune_Reference Just finished season 3 and made notes on some of the characters.

Season 1 Post
Season 2 Post
Elena (and some Stefan/Damon) - Starts with the usual getting into and getting others into extremely life threatening situations (going after Stefan). Her hearts in the right place, as it always is, but it's actually wild how much she gets away with. Also holy shit stop compelling Jeremy.
We're starting to get a big chink the armor of Stefan & Elena's relationship as she falls more for Damon. What can I say, Damon is the bad boy that's soft at heart. He's done some pretty wack things in the past, but so has Stefan. He's cool and confident in his state of vampirism as apposed to Stefan who goes through phases of being an unquenchable serial killer. Both of them love her and would die for her. Both of them can be controlling.
Both of them have seemingly different personalities when interacting with other people and is were you see more deeply into their character. Stefan has a insecure personality that creates mood swings (which he tries to stop by shutting down), but also contributes to his ability to listen to others issues sincerely. Damon has a confident personality, but has a harder time showing compassion, but when he does it's full out. It's hard to choose between the two of them. Stefan is a goody two-shoes, but wavers in insecurity. Damon makes questionable decisions because of his lack of compassion for people he doesn't know, but is confident and fully expressive.
It really comes down to what you want as a person. How much you want to be challenged. How much you want your spouse to be a project you keep in check.
Her decision in the end on who to see I think was the right one given the context. She's had this long relationship with Stefan and Damon is just this starting flame. Stefan has consistently been there and loved her through and through; during times when Damon was still obsessed with someone else. That's not to say in the long run Damon can't be the correct choice, but, at that moment, Stefan was the choice with history that deserved more weight.
Stefan - In the end Stefan also has the same rapist killer qualities as Damon, but just hasn't had the screen time Damon has in acting that way. Stefan's problem is that he's a Jekyll and Hyde scenario. Would you say Stefan is a better person than Damon because he only is a rapist killer when he's in his savage mode? When he's in his good mode he shouldn't be judged for the things he's done? Especially when some random thing could trigger another relapse? I wouldn't say he's any better or worse.
Stefan is going through some interesting changes in the recovery ripper phase where he seems more interesting and less like a white knight. He's essentially a good guy again, but isn't held back by it. I wonder if this will continue or if he'll dip more heavily into one side or the other.
Damon - He gets better when he's with Elena. I'm honestly kind of seeing a trend here were Damon is kind of like a main main character were he's constantly growing as a person and I could see him being drastically different by the end than he is now; and he's changed considerably since the first season when he was essentially a villain to start.
Jeremy - Getting the ghost action really messed with him. The whole Anna coming back and making out with her while in a relationship with Bonnie and confessing to Elena that he actually loves Anna not Bonnie. Holy shit my dude chill. I suppose this is in character for Jeremy to not know what he wants and to change his mind every five seconds, but have mercy. He knew Anna wasn't going to be able to stay; bro even when you love her that much, there's nothing you can do, just get a hold of yourself and be faithful to the woman you're currently with who will continue to be here tomorrow. This guy.
Caroline - Still Momma bearing it up. Although she can get a little too judge-y at times. Also the whole thing with Klaus is moderately weird. I understand that he's being more vulnerable with her which is attractive and he acts kinda like a nice guy when around her, but only to her; but also he's in the past and actively now threatening the lives of every single person she knows and loves and will likely continue to do so forever. It's like dating Satan. Like, I guess sure if that's really when you're into, but that's a little wack for me. It's like taking the concept of Damon and extending it as far as possible and seeing if it will still work. tbf Caroline shuts him down and loves Tyler and all that, but the fact that she even seems like she's slightly entertaining it is wild to me. But also having that connection is a powerful tool to use, which they do, multiple times.
Caroline's arc with her father was actually great. I found her dad's conflicted love for her and hatred of what she is to be compelling (no pun intended). I really liked that he tried to change her in the only way he knew how. While he was obviously a contentious guy, his choice in his own death and his heartful interactions with Caroline were powerful. I teared up during their last convo.
Bonnie - Well the consequences of ressurecting Jeremy weren't all that nutty. However, her cracking open the door to the other side for the original witch to take advantage of was wild (unless that was the consequence? but that's not really a personal consequence...unless you count Jeremy's mess lmao). Also I just hate the spirits in general. Refuses to help when it's really needed; like what am I going to do just die and let all my friend die so I'm in your good graces? No. I'm going to do whatever needs to be done, even if that's magic you don't like. It's not like she's even sacrificing people for these spells they're getting angry about or anything. Spirits didn't talk shit when Jon was sacrificed to keep Elena alive.
We got to see some more powerful witch action with the wild voodoo witch that was blood reading Stefan, as well as learning Bonnie's mom did some "dark"TM magic to essentially put ... in stasis. Not to mention the original witch herself will all sorts of ridiculous power and knowledge.
Really all I have to say about Bonnie's mother is I wish she wasn't such an awful person. Like somehow she's nice, but also just the worst.
Also Bonnie being angry at random people all the time when there's either no other choice for what happened, and she also wouldn't want any other thing to happen, is getting old. Bonnie is somehow like a really cool character. I like her when she's not being angry and random people, I like her character design, I like her witchy stuff. She's great, but she somehow always gets on my nerves by being angry at people about stuff they can't control.
Matt - Dudes somehow joined the squad wild also being the most critically normal person around. His family issues are really something though; him going full on suicidal in the pool, even if it was for a good reason, was entirely wack. Also sucks his sister is complete ruckus, even moreso in death.
Tyler - Getting un-sired was the catalyst Tyler really needed to be able to take off as a character and I want to see were he goes with it. He's a little jealous of Klaus, but you know, that's fair. Be territorial. Keep your girl. Klaus needs to just cease to exist.
Alaric - Big plot points of the season: the original witch tries to kill the most powerful creatures in the world, and the giga-chad immortal vampire slayer (just some fucking history teacher) attempts to be the sword that cuts down this evil.
They honestly were like: "Alaric is the best character and can do no wrong. How do we spice up his character and do something interesting? Let's just fuck his shit up." To be honest, out of all the ways they could try to exit Alaric this was the most badass way possible. Dude is a legend when he's good and when he's bad. Absolute monster.
I'm out there in the graveyard giving a toast with Damon. Peace.
Catherine - Plot Device
Elijah - Maintains his relationship with Elena for the most part, but has to make an awful decision between putting Elena's life in danger or having him and his entire family killed. He makes what can only be said is the best decision, but that doesn't mean he won't be wracked with guilt for it. Elijah is certainly one of the more human originals. My favorite person of the originals, at least when he's not indiscriminately killing people.
Klaus - We got more backstory and more action with this guy, but really, he's a villain. He's punching forward the plot, he's dangerous, he kills people, he's a wild card. What we do know is while he's around Elena isn't safe. But he has to be around or like 50% of the people she knows die. He's a giga villain that has plot armor of his own. I could see him becoming less of a threat given they find a workaround for him needing Elena, but he'll likely always be a problem.
Rebekah - Rebekah is always wacky and wild. She's like a significantly more depressed and apathetic (for good reason) Caroline. I could see her becoming "good" and interacting with the squad favorably if she ever stopping taking all her frustration out on Elena.
Esther - Very powerful, but I feel like she could have done so much more to actually enact her plans. Like why were Bonnie and Abby just out in the open when she still needed their power? especially when she has a magic circle that vampires couldn't enter? The immortalizing of Alaric was pretty cool. I feel like they could have done so much more with this, though. For how much she's hyped up until this point they sure did put her down quite quickly. The only thing I can think is that she's going to be used more later since she has a nack for coming back from the dead.
Kol - Plot device to be used by Klaus. Wild guy. Kinda cool, but we don't get much.
Finn -Plot device to be used by Esther. Stick in the mud. Self hating. Don't care for this guy very much. Especially with abandoning sage.
Meredith - I actually really like her character. She helps out people by using vampire blood which is honestly what any doctor should do given the alternative being the patients death or amputation, etc. When Alaric starts doing shit like TRYING TO MURDER HER she just wants to help him. I honestly hope she stays around and contributes to the team occasionally.
Some other highlights:
Alaric: "Let the vampires fight the hybrid zombie mountain man."
Elena having both Stefan and Damon in her arms walking into the ball was an absolute meme.
